Posted: 27 Sep 2017 10:44 PM PDT

Code Red is an emergency notification system that includes cell phones that has widespread use through the USA. It is similar to the Reverse 911 system that works only with you land line phone.

This link explains the mobile apps available for Code Red and has links to download it.

BATTERY INFORMATION

Here is some information on LiFePO4 batteries.

LiFePO4 vs AGM You Tube video -  The video shows a load test comparison between the two types of batteries. At the end of the video there is a cost to own comparison.

The LiFePO4 battery in the video came from A123 Systems. However, after reviewing A123 Systems website I could not find the battery used in the video or any battery that appeared to be suitable for ham radio use. However, I did not email them to ask for information.

Bioenno Power also has LiFePO4 batteries and their site is "ham friendly". Bioenno also has solar panels suitable for portable operation.

One thing to keep in mind when considering cost is that these batteries come with built-in the charge controller/overload/over discharge protection circuitry. A charger suitable for AGM will also charge LiFePO4 batteries that have a built-in charge controller circuitry.
