The meeting for November will include a practical presentation on Mesh radio and a presentation on the communication challenges of the Moab 240.

The Moab 240 ultra race lasts 53 (1st place) to 110 hours (last place). The amateur radio volunteers have the opportunity to communicate from very beautiful and very remote locations. Come hear how they do it with no electrical outlets and in the middle of some scenic canyons for 110 hours.

Please join us Saturday November 10th at 10 am for the monthly club meeting (the second Saturday – as always) at the Davis County Sheriff’s Office meeting room. Enter from the Northwest parking lot across the street (South) from the Cinemark Theatre. Look for a lot of civilian vehicles with antennas

As always you are invited to the get-together before the meeting at the Golden Coral in Layton at 8 AM.

April’s Meeting

Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) is a digital voice mode that is rapidly

gaining in popularity in the Amateur Radio world. The high-quality of the audio and low-cost of the radios makes it a good choice to explore the world of digital voice. DMR allows the user to not only talk digitally with others on a local repeater, but through worldwide networks, users can talk to others around the globe using this mode. In our presentation on April 14th, we'll talk more about what DMR is, how we built a DMR repeater for Davis County, and how to get started.

Brandon Rasmussen, K7BBR has been a ham since 2009. His interests in the hobby have varied from earning DXCC, VUCC satellite, to building a DMR UHF repeater.

He lives in Woods Cross with his wife and four children. His day job is an airline pilot flying the Canadair Regional Jet.

We hope you will take a minute for a three question survey (the link has now been fixed): https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/B6GS8Z9

The plan is to better understand who we are and what interests we have so we can improve our meetings and be more responsive to our needs.
