The 2m repeater on 147.04 with a tone of 123 is now C4FM capable.
You can use your Yaesu fusion radio with the 04 repeater and / or use
your regular FM radio with the same repeater.
Give it a try and check out the capabilities.
Do some experimenting.
But above all, have some fun with it.
You will notice there is no courtesy tone, or hourly announcements.
Those will come later.
Other news at the antelope island repeater site that the sheriffs
office let's us use.
The sheriff's office has installed new solar panels and a new generator.
There is still work going on with that project but it's looking good.
Our annual elections for President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer will be in December as usual. I ask that you consider running for office. If you have an interest in doing so, please contact me and I think it would be appropriate to post an article (tastefully and tactfully written, focusing on the positive) on our website explaining who you are, why you want to run for office, and what your plans and ideas are.
Our club has five voting members of the executive committee, the four individuals named above AND the PAST PRESIDENT. This helps maintain club continuity and smooths the transition.
This year, I am running for the position of PAST PRESIDENT. I am a huge fan of term limits and will continue cheerfully serving in this other leadership position for one or two or three or how ever many more years our next president serves.
With that being said, the one thing that has been lacking in my Ham Radio career since becoming club president has simply been time-on-the-air. I have been to hamfests, meetings, public events......but just haven't sat in my home QTH and rag-chewed on HF like I used to. I am looking forward to spending a bit more time at that.
I have enjoyed serving the club in the role of club President for the last two terms, and look forward to serving our new President in the years to come. I thank you all for your support and would be glad to help anyone interested in serving the club in one of these important positions.
Lon Stuart (WM7E) has been putting together the club newsletter for....well...longer than a lot of us have even been in the club. He's asked to "retire" from the position of club newsletter editor, as life and other responsibilities are taking up a lot of his time and attention these days.
I hope you all can join me in thanking Lon for his many years of tireless service. Please give him a shake of the hand and a pat on the shoulder next time you see him, as he has done a grand and wonderful thing for a lot of years.
According to the ARRL website the Amateur Radio Parity Act has passed the U.S. House and is on to the Senate. The ARRL is requesting your help in contacting your Senator to get support. Check out the article at arrl.org
