March 25, 2017 - 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM with a break for lunch between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM at the Taylorsville City Hall, 2600 West Taylorsville Blvd. Tarylorsville, UT.
This is a full day specialized training session broken into two parts. In the morning will be Effective Net Control Operator training including best practices and functional guidelines. In the afternoon will be how to be an event communications coordinator including the use of Google Docs, Working with Event Directors, what are your responsibilities and duties, knowing the law, and best practices to make the event as smooth as possible for the volunteers.
These are specialized classes developed by folks who have been supporting events in the area for many years. We are in dire need of additional Net Control operators and Event Communications Coordinators as there are simply more and more events being put on that could use our help and not enough of us trained to help them. It is in our (HAM Radio Operators) best interest to work with and be available for as many of these public service events as possible or we will find that we simply won't be asked to assist again or, worse yet, we won't have had enough real time practice working in real life situations to be of any assistance when "the big one" hits and our communities need us.
These classes are open to any licensed HAM radio operator of any license class. You do not need to be a General or Extra to be a Net Control Operator or Event Coordinator, you just need the motivation to help and stay on task.
There will be a $25 charge for the class. To sign up for the class follow this link:

The February meeting of the DARC will be held at the Davis County Sheriff's Office on Saturday, February 11 at 10:00 AM. Chuck Killian, WB6YOK will be giving a presentation on his use of the Raspberry Pi computers for Amateur Radio. Chuck is also in charge of meeting presentations so if you wish to have a presentation about a specific subject or would like to present a talk, give Chuck a shout.
- The Board has decided to implement a couple of new changes to the meetings. The first item is to adhere to an agenda to make the meeting move along quicker. If you have something for inclusion in the agenda, please contact the Club President.
- Secondly announcements for the meeting will be put onto a Powerpoint which will scroll on the screen before the meeting starts. This will also streamline the meeting.
- The third item is we are trying to limit the speakers to presenting for no longer than 45 minutes. This will get us out earlier and should reduce the number of folks who lose interest and leave early.
If you have any other suggestions, please contact your officers.
See you there!
